This site contains images created using digital methods.

In photography when capturing the image, the camera is central, an arbiter between the photographer and the sub/ob/ject of inquiry.

Data downloaded from the visible world metaprogrammed to output.

I have experienced three discrete periods of creativity using digital devices to create the physical product of imagery.

These periods have been defined by shifts in both technology and personal circumstances.

From 1966 to 1999 I was an analog Black and White photographer committed to the craft for reasons of choice and practicality. I saw the world through the abstraction of the intensity of light, converting colors to tonal nuance.

The three different methods of work to produce the images.

  1. Exposing 35mm color negative film for commercial processing, 4 by 6 inch prints scanned on a flatbed scanner and printed on an HP 550 ink jet.
  2. Next shooting film and scanning the negatives using a Canon FS4000 scanner, printing on an Epson 2000p.
  3. Third and current shooting direct digital files and printing with an Epson P900.
